Canberräng 2017 – Around the World in 80 Hours

Jumptown Swing cordially invites you to attend Canberräng from the 3rd to the 6th of August 2017 for an around the world adventure which will dazzle you with the delights of swinging across the seven seas! Canberräng is Canberra’s Festival of Swing, one of Australia’s longest running and most loved lindy exchanges.

We look forward to sharing the pleasure of your company as we revisit the heyday of the Orient Express and we dance our way around the globe. Get ready to pack your dancing shoes and collect your first class tickets for this hugely popular four day lindy exchange!

Details of our events are below. Catering options are listed but please note that we are unfortunately unable to cater to all dietary requirements. If you have specific dietary needs and would like to check what food items will be on offer at events, please get in touch.

The majority of venues are located within about 3km of the Canberra CBD and the easiest way to travel between them is by car, so out of towners may like to organise lifts with locals or use taxis. The two venues which are further afield are the Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston (7km from the CBD) and the Lake George Winery (45 km from the CBD). We have chartered buses to get dancers to and from the Old Bus Depot Markets and the Winery so be sure to buy a return bus ticket online to guarantee your seat.

To help you keep track of events and to provide you with all the venue location details, we have created a Google Calendar for you to use. Jump to the bottom of this page to see how to access this and get all the essential information downloaded straight to your device.

Google Calendar of Events

To help you navigate your way safely to all our events, we have created a Google Calendar listing them all, along with the buses to/from the Winery. You can access this calendar in two way:

  1. View the calendar and subscribe to it, making it available to all devices and systems you have linked to your Google Calendars; or
  2. Import the calendar events directly into your preferred calendar app from an iCal file.

To view the calendar, direct your browser to: goo.gl/Q37mzW

You can then select the “+ Google Calendar” button at the bottom right corner to subscribe to it, adding it to your “My Calendars”. You may be prompted to login to Google if needed. Once this is done, you can choose to view it in any of your device calendar apps. You may need to do a calendar re-sync so your app is aware of the new calendar, and may then need to check the box to see it. For more details on this, see the Google Help “Sync Calendar with a phone or tablet” page.

The advantage of subscribing to the calendar is that you have a live subscription that will track any last minute changes (which we hope wont happen), and can view it on all your devices. The disadvantage is that the process is a little messy.

To import the calendar events, view the iCal file on your device at: goo.gl/GFe5bw. You should be prompted whether you want to import the 12 events into your Calendar app.

The advantage of just importing the events is that it is simple and easy. The disadvantage is that you get the details as they are when you import them.

Enjoy your journey!
